Account Flaging
Am I the only one afraid of what this could end up doing to LJ... Personally I for one see this as a direct contradiction to the "No big changes" thing and am appalled by this decision, anyone else have an opinion on the matter?

Not when I posted it

I thought this community was here to share grievances permenant members find significant?, if you don't like what I have to say then why don't you go elsewhere?

the background on this community to provide a place where LiveJournal members with a permanent account may gather to discuss issues pertinent to their account type. I don't know what you think but I think this is pertinent to all account types

If people don't share there feelings then companies in charge will never see a problem and things will not get changed or change in ways that are possibly more restricting.

People have a right here to post what they are concerned about with LJ no matter how much you disagree with them. It is not a drama to have concerns.

I don't agree that this is a "big change" since in effect it will not have any impact at all on anyone who is over 18 and it has very little impact on friends-only posts because they can't be flagged. I'm with primitivepeople on this.

Oh I completely disagree there about not impacting people over 18, it means people will have to start flagging their entries if they use anything considered adult which I'm still not completely clear on, so does this mean pictures, adult language, controversial topics, graphic pictures?

As I understand it, the self-flagging is entirely voluntary; as such, I refuse to participate in it.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but I thought the self flagging was a "cover your butt" sort of thing that if you don't do it and have adult material you risk trouble

Alls you risk is LJ coming in after the fact & flagging it themselves, though they will only do this is they get enough flags sent into them to make it where they think they should look at it. They've already said one flag will not make them look at it. They've also said that if they find that someone is abusing the feature, they could have their account suspended.

I estimate that a large percentage of the livejournal population, including myself, will never be inconvenienced by this.

...presuming it doesn't expand.
