Once Again
LiveJournal has passed the 10 million registered journal mark.

That's a lot of zeroes: 10,000,000! (I count seven zeros.) And once again, you get to hear something before it is put-out in news (assuming they do). You see, I happen to know who lucky number ten million is. Just don't forget -- you heard it here first! (Again. lol)

LiveJournal member #10,000,000 is... [info]interaction.

Finally, I was the first to know something. :x

Heheh. What a fabulous idea (and username!) for the 10 millionth journal!
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 01:55 pm (UTC)
haha, thanks. I hope it turns-out to be a good idea.
qfemaleqfemale on April 11th, 2006 05:21 am (UTC)
I take it this is your account?
I guess they will be giving you another perm account then ;-p
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 01:49 pm (UTC)
Yes, interaction is my account. I turned it into a shared journal.

And I'm hoping they make it a permanent account. As I told kunzite1, what's better than one permanent account but TWO of them. ^.^
qfemaleqfemale on May 7th, 2006 03:16 pm (UTC)
I guess that didn't happen, eh? :-(
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on May 8th, 2006 04:43 am (UTC)
I guess not. Not even a mention in news. What a bummer.

I wonder who 10,000,001 was @_@
Senora Sassafrass: Big Fishsewcute on April 11th, 2006 11:15 am (UTC)
sometimes I think it would be cool to search by the number of a journal.
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 01:50 pm (UTC)
It's possible, but it's a restricted priv.
Senora Sassafrasssewcute on April 11th, 2006 02:20 pm (UTC)
oh. well I want to get that privilege ;)

Senora Sassafrasssewcute on April 11th, 2006 02:26 pm (UTC)
maybe it should be put to suggestions for perm members?
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 02:29 pm (UTC)
If we want that priv, it'll be one we have to earn. :x
Senora Sassafrasssewcute on April 11th, 2006 02:30 pm (UTC)
why?
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 02:39 pm (UTC)
Because it's intended for admin and support(?) use.
Senora Sassafrasssewcute on April 11th, 2006 02:43 pm (UTC)
oh.

I have a question for you. . .just thought of it actually, but if a person gets a rename token, does their number stay the same?

what happened to all the purged journals? do they keep the same number should someone create that journal?
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 02:55 pm (UTC)
Yes, if someone renames their journal, their userid (number) stays the same. If someone renames a journal with a purged username, they still retain their original userid. I think everything on the back-end is run by the userid...the username is just something that can be changed without effecting the userid, and is used to make it easier for people (similar to the way we use domain names for websites, to make it easier...instead of having to remember the IP addy of a site).

Also, since it relates to the original discussion of privs, one reason the average user will never be able to find a journal by userid is ti minimize abuse and harassment. If I changed my name and cut the forwarding-connection from the old name to the new name to avoid being harassed and that priv was public, then the people harassing me would just search for my number and find me again. So, the limitation on that feature to a priv is also done for security and privacy reasons.
Senora Sassafrasssewcute on April 11th, 2006 02:56 pm (UTC)
it makes sense as to why numbers are so important and why they wouldn't give anyone access.

thanks!

You're welcome!
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 01:53 pm (UTC)
Someone who's likely to be a bit upset. :x

If they announce it in a news post, I'm gonna have to keep an eye-out for that person. Still, 10000001 would be a cool number, for the symmetrical value. Another cool number would be 999999...that journal could be about 9's. lol
Curly Fry and the Tator Totsjaebird on April 11th, 2006 02:10 pm (UTC)
:D
I wouldn't mind having either of those numbers
Yáng Yuǎn Zhìadudeabides on April 11th, 2006 02:16 pm (UTC)
I think I missed a 9. :x
Me either.

Then again, it'd also suck missing it by so closely, so it might take a little while to accepts the coolness of those numbers.

bwa-ha! This means that LJ is now 255 times the size it was when I got my account in Jan 2001 :)
