V-gifts not dilivered :(  
This is the third time that I bought V-gifts for friends and they never get delivered, because I use Paypal and Firefox. LJ does not mention this. Marta said once about there being a bug with LJ, Paypal and a plug-in with Firefox yet she never said which plug-in.

I used to buy almost all my friends V-gifts for their birthday. Now these gifts were for people ill and to cheer some others up. Today they were supposed to show up. And they took the money, but no V-gifts.

Yes I left a support request like I did for the last two times and it is just sitting there. Has this happened to anyone else? This one important way a perm member can still support this site, I just can't believe they have not addressed this yet.

This is addressed in the large blue box on the Support page which you see before you can open a request. It's currently the second bullet point.

Gee I can't believe this has been going on for so many months. No way I am uninstalling no script, I buy other things with my browser as is through paypal with no problem at all. Guess it's back to other sites for V-Gifts.

BTW I didn't think I would have to check the support page every time I buy something.

You don't need to uninstall it - just disable it, shut Firefox, reopen it to make your purchase, re-enable it, then restart Firefox again.

Interesting - I assumed you would have to uninstall it because the blue box explicity says just disabling it may not work.

In which case I may be wrong then, it's just that I'm sure I remember disabling it rather than uninstalling it. Perhaps the part about disabling it's been added since I used it 'cause it hasn't worked for some people.

My question is why does it not work with noscript? Why does paypal work with noscript on other sites. What is it about LJ now that is different from before when it was working?

I didn't mean to imply that you need to check for known issues before you do anything on LiveJournal. You just said "LJ does not mention this", so I just wanted to point out that it it is in fact posted, publicly, that this might be a problem.

And my point is that I as a normal user don't look to support when buying something or doing everyday LJ things, only if there is a problem. I never have been logged into a site and went to their support page before the using the website it is assumed that if one offers a service that all of it works not parts of it.

The current problems are on that page, a page that one would go to after the fact not while shopping or doing anything else.

If they hide it on the support page how is anyone going to know until they actually have the problem?

I have emailed, I have taken out a support ticket and it is left unanswered. So the anger is not just from the error, but getting no help or support at all. Except from this non-official LJ community. Which has been extremely pleasant and helpful.

You can use regular credit card payments and not PayPal and you won't experience this problem. If you have money in your PayPal account you want to spend, you should have PayPal issue you a debit card, which you can then use through the regular payment gateway with no problems.

They also used to have a thing where you could click and generate a number to use on their website. I'm not sure if they still do or not.

Thank you for you suggestions, but I use paypal for the reason of not handing out my credit card information. It is just so angering that It has happened to me 3 times and that it is not fixed by now The second time was so any months ago, I assumed it was fixed.

They have been changing and adding things over the past few months I guess I assumed they fixed things that need to be fixed.

I don't really know what to suggest, but I hope your gifts get sent! I agree with you, it is really awful and they should have fixed the bug by now, as it is obviously a big problem to be the second point on the support page.

Thanks :) It seems to me that the internet is getting more and more intrusive with spiders, bugs and whatnots. You have to have a firewall, adware/malware detector, virus scanner, pop up blocker and Firefox with noscript to me is a must.

That's happened to me as well (also Firefox, with noscript).

Now I send an email to support as soon as I order if I pay with Paypal, and I order a couple days in advance so that I have lead time. They stick a credit on my account within 24 hours and then I reorder using the credit and it goes straight thru.

A pain, but it works.

It has been almost 24 hours and no reply in support at all. It is a shame because the V-gifts were for people having medical procedures done and now the timing is is off.

I am glad you got your resolved in 24 hours though. I might switch to E-cards.

Did you email? I emailed accounts@livejournal.com, using the payment confirmation from paypal and forwarding it. Both times I got responses from Erica.

That stinks about the timing :(

I hope your friends both do well and heal easily from their procedures.

Yeah, e-cards might be easier and more reliable.

Could just be that no-one with the authorisation to answer it has been on-line since you opened it.

Yes, the request must have been moved to the Accounts category. That is a private category, as volunteers cannot look up payment information - so there are fewer people working in it, which means that it can take a bit longer for an answer to get through.

Email to accounts@livejournal.com also goes to the Account category, AFAIK - it's essentially the same thing as opening a request in that category.

I hope this got resolved for you. LJ could do themselves a world of good if they had trained tech support people who also got paid. With a phone # that say paid and permanent members could call if they needed extra help above and beyond what the volunteer techies could give.
