Mod Post: Community Maintenance
Allow me to clarify a point or two and address an issue...

I will remove deleted journals from this community every 30-60 days, simply as a matter of scrubbing the membership list and keeping the community's userinfo page clean. Regardless of a user's reason for deletion. If a user decide to reinstate their journal, they can take a couple seconds to re-join this community.

If someone needs to delete their journal temporarily, for whatever personal reasons, and they wish to not be deleted, they can shoot me an e-mail and ask, and chances are I'll be willing to help them out. That is part of the purpose for listing community maintainers and moderators on the userinfo page -- for contacting maintainers about community issues.

This community is not an appropriate forum for protest of TOS issues. There are more appropriate avenues for that. Discussion of TOS issues, however, as it relates to permanent accounts and LiveJournal as a whole are generally acceptable.

This community will not encourage protest by creating a post allowing others to state their reasons for deleting their journals; as far as I'm concerned, a user's reasons for deleting their journal are personal and have nothing to do with this community's purpose, whether it is as part of a protest, because their life is falling apart, or because their employer found their journal. On that note, posts made by members simply to announce deletion of their journal will be considered off-topic and deleted.

A good example of feature and TOS issues is the introduction of advertising on LiveJournal -- the issue was discussed, as it relates to permanent accounts and LiveJournal, in this community, but anti-ad advocates did not use this community to further their agenda, instead creating communities, sites, tools, resources, and avenues of approach external to this community. If you have qualms with an aspect of the TOS -- say, nudity rules -- take a page from the anti-ads advocates' book and do similar.

I don't want to restrict posting very much, but please do keep in mind the purpose of this community. If you have issues with LiveJournal's TOS that do not relate to this community's purpose, those issues need to be addressed more appropriately.

If anyone has issues with this, and would like to discuss or clarify this community's policies, please feel free to reply to this post or shoot me an e-mail. I will consider input, suggestions, and comments on this issue (this issue being the above-stated "policy," not LJ's TOS or breast-feeding) and if we need to adjust-fire a bit, that's fine.

I'm pretending that 'fourthed' is actually a reasonable term here.

So because you have a problem with the way people are protesting you're going to kick them out of this community if they delete their journals for the day?

Sweet!
I understand and don't have a problem. I don't plan on ever deleting my journal, but I won't get disappointed if I did and you kicked me out of the community...in fact, I'd rather have expected it.

And hear's to no more arguing over things we needn't argue about in here.

Re: Sweet!
I don't like messy looking userinfo pages. And my assumption is that if a journal is deleted for a couple weeks, it's prob not gonna come back. What a waste of a permanent account, too. :x

That I do. I'm not a fan of drama.
